In 1950 Gaza's population was 240'000. Today it is 1.5 million. By current trends it will reach 3 millions in 2040. The reason for this growth is that the majority of it's population does not have to provide for it's offspring. Most babies are fed, clothed, vaccinated and educated by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA). And this growth results in a huge overhang of young males. And these young males are the ideal reservoir from which to recruit the Palestinian fighters. On November 14, the Wall Street Journal published a memorable interview with the outspoken Carl Icahn. His comments about CEO's and boards should get drummed into the brain of each shareholder. Most probably his insights are also valid for the CEO's and boards of Swiss companies. That's at least my assumption given my very modest knowledge about some of their representatives.

read more...Nun ist es in die Köpfe fast aller gehämmert: Auf der Welt wird's über die nächsten hundert Jahre immer wärmer und der Mensch ist daran schuld. So steht's im 'Climat Change 2007' (4th Assessment Report) des Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Bei genauerem Hinschauen ist aber einige Skepsis am Platz und ein 'Klima-Moratorium' ist dringend geboten.

Longdrink: 3 cl Cointreau, 2 cl brauner Rum, 2 cl Zitronensaft, 8 cl Orangensaft, 1 cl Grenadine. Alles zusammen mit Eis in den Shaker und dann ins passende Glas (Cocktailglas oder Whiskyglas) absieben. Mit Pfefferminzblättern und einem Stück Orange garnieren. Statt Orangensaft kann auch irgendein exotischer Fruchtsaft (z.B. Ananasaft ist sehr gut geeignet) verwendet werden.
